Mills 25-cent BLACK CHERRY antique slot machine, ca. The Mills Black Cherry was not only a real workhorse, but it was the first slot introduced by Mills after World War II. Slot operators were lined up on the loading docks just waiting for them to be produced. And this particular one has a super historical pedigree.
It was originally operated on the New Orleans Mississippi River Ferry that provided service between New Orleans and the City of Gretna (that is, between the east and west banks of the river). However, this Mills Black Cherry had little play because slot machines were illegal in New Orleans but legal in Gretna. So the vault style slot machine stand for this machine was not unlocked until the ferry was half way across the river. Then, when the state police started seizing slot machines, the ferry boat captain took this little used slot machine home. And there it just sat until we obtained it from his estate.Mint condition original reel strips and etched style award card. Original Mills lock & key.
Investment grade antique that appreciates in value annually. No rusty, brazed, welded, or worn out parts. Flawless operation, plays & pays perfectly. This is not some barn find that's just being pawned off on the next guy; this is a completely and properly restored antique slot machine.
