1930's Slot Ball-gum Penny Coin Machine

1930'S SLOT BALL-GUM PENNY COIN MACHINE. It is approx 12" high, 8 1/2" wide (9" with handle) and 8 1/2" deep. The top of the coin machine has a raised panel impressed BALL-GUM against a red backgkround. The front has a 3 3/4 window revealing the inside slot reels (lemons, oranges, etc). On one side it reads, Pull Knob for Gum and on the other side - Drop Coin here. The bottom front has a 5 1/2" x 3 3/4" glass window revealing "Your Fortune" key of winnings. One side of the front has a 1 1/4" x 3 3/4" glass window - blank with a bubble gum dispenser beneath it. The other side has a 5 cartouche decoration. One side of the machine is decorated with an eagle holding a banner. The banner reading 1776 -1930 across the Liberty bell and two bow tie ribbon decorations. The other side has the pull handle. The eagle and banner and the two bow tie ribbon decorations and a 1 1/4 square glass window. The is NO BACK PIECE closing the coin machine. The open back reveals the three reels and the handle pull mechanism and the empty compartment where the gum goes.

The top is not screwed on. The inside of the coin machine is impressed G-118 Groetchen Tools & Mfg Co, Chicago, ILL.

The mechanism does work - insert a penny and the reels spin but the handle is stiff. It's been sitting in the attic for over thirty years.
