ATTENTION THERE IS A VIDEO OF THIS MACHINE BELOW THE DESCRIPTION. For your consideration, an Art Deco 1934 Rockola Hold And Draw , trade stimulator, gumball and gaming machine. Introduced in September 1934, at the height of the Great Depression, (which started in the USA with the stock market crash of 1929; and where about 24% of the American workforce was out of work; industrial production had dropped 50 %; the drought of 1931 to 1939 which initiated the Dust Bowl wiping out most farms in the Great Plains region,) it was a problematic time to bring a new machine to the market. Initially offered with five different reel strips (cards, numbers, baby bell fruit, cigarette brands, and dice) and award cards, it was a fun game to play.

Operating as a trade stimulator, no matter what you scored on the reels, the machine always dispensed a gumball. This prime example has considerably less than normal wear, and has the original top sign, front award card holder, side view window for last coin played, original paint, the rear door, winning coin drop plunger , and the original lock. It comes with two newer keys and an extra genuine Rockola award card for the slot machine type reels.

It was a problematic time to bring a new machine to the market. This restored prime example has considerably less than normal wear, and has the original-type top sign, front award card holder, side view window for last coin played, like-original wrinkle paint, the rear door, winning coin drop plunger. It comes with two newer keys. Are as follows: Original-type wrinkle paint; working gumball loader, spring loaded with no bends or damage to the sheet metal piece; new poker reproduction reel strips; new 1 cent to play awards card and original Art Deco frame; working gumball dispenser, one for each play. No rust, no corrosion, no dents, previous breaks in the cabinet which were Heliarced in our restoration shop; it has the new piece of front curved glass, new five window segmented viewing window cardboard, original detail painting here and there on the trim and top sign detail, original top sign and enclosed cardboard replicated sign, new exact coin entry plate, original undamaged operating handle, and still nicely detailed and undamaged Art Deco accent designs cast in the machine case and original back door.

The fun begins when you drop in the coin. This machine was designed to take any of the following --pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, or half-dollars, and it still does. The inserted coin allows one spin of the reels by pushing down on the handle, and the previous coin played which is viewable in the sight glass on the right side of the machine is dropped into the cashbox below. Then the "Hold" buttons are set by pushing each one down where you want to "hold" a card on the reel. The handle can be pushed the for the second time, the reels will spin, and the "hold" buttons will pop back up.

The last coin played will then appear in the right side sight glass. You would match what you got on the reel spins to the award card in the front display window. The store owner would give you the prize, and push the plunger on the rear of the machine to drop the coin played into the cash box. Seeing the fantastic condition that this 80 year old machine is in along with the fact that it still works on ANY of the listed coins above is a genuine complimentary endorsement of it's true value.
