ANTIQUE NICKEL COIN SLOT MACHINE 5 CENT COIN. This nickel slot machine was in the Audubon Country Club in Louisville, Kentucky, until gambling became illegal. The machines were being destroyed. My grandfather lived close by the Club and got one.
The machine went to my parents when my grandfather died, and to me when my parents died. It has been stored in my non-smoking home for over 40 years. The machine jams up occasionally and sometimes pays too few or sometimes too many nickels. It has some nicks in the wood base but is solid with original finish, great shape for its age. The manufacturers emblem is on the top but I have no idea what the letters are. It has been painted but could be easily removed since it is painted on metal. There was a design or emblem just under the place where the nickel coins go in that is worn off from thousands of hands putting nickels into the machine.
There is a raised bell emblem below that. It has 3 keys to open the doors. The original coin box is here. On the three wheels it says BELL-FRUIT-GUM.The original card on the front is scratched and someone marked an 8 with a marker pen on the PAY side. All the wood is original finish.
