First of all, this is a very early example of a PAUPA HOCHREIM 5 coin entry pay-out slot. Photo 4 is a close up of the patent date--JULY 1897. NEXT---- besides being one of only TWO KNOWN examples (and the better one by far) it is an exceptionallly beautiful machine. Most likely rare because it was a very unusual concept with dice pay-outs. OF COURSE -- the fact that this mechanism is the most intricate of all one wheel pay-out models.

Look at the photos, what a contraption---certainly designed by a mad engineer---the very next year may have led to a quick demise for the operators. MILLS NOVELTY came out with a one wheel pay machine called---THE OWL - and- GAME OVER for this kind of machine- a heavy duty mechanism and much simpler to operate. This is a bargain ---the other known machine had a type written award card and the upper right frame and card were missing-- last photo shows that machine auctioned off in MAY, 2016 for comparison.
